Consent to Testing & Clinical Oversight Policy

Last update: 8 Jan 2026
Effective: 8 Jan 2026

At Listen, we're here to help you feel empowered, educated, and energised by understanding your body's signals. To do that effectively, we need to be transparent about what we can and can't do.

We know terms and conditions aren't the most exciting read, but they're essential for your safety and ours. We've worked to make ours as clear as possible - please take a few minutes to read through them.

A Summary of What You're Agreeing To

By using Listen Health, you consent to us arranging lab tests and securely sharing your results with you. We provide educational, wellness-focused information to help you understand your health better, but we do not diagnose conditions or provide medical treatment -  you'll need to see a regular doctor for that. Our service is all about arming you with tools to enhance your lifestyle, not as a replacement for traditional healthcare. If we find anything that is an emergency in your results, we'll contact you right away and tell you to seek immediate medical care. For all other findings, we strongly encourage you to share your results with your GP (which are easily downloaded in the app). Remember, you’re always in control. You have the right to ask questions, access your results, or withdraw your consent at any time.

Below you’ll find the complete details of this consent, including your rights, our responsibilities and how we handle your information.

Consent to Testing and Clinical Oversight

At Listen Health Pty Ltd (“Listen Health”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), we are committed to clinical integrity, informed consent, and the secure handling of your health information.

This Consent to Testing and Clinical Oversight (“Consent”) explains how we collect, manage, and use your consent when you access any laboratory testing or related clinical services through Listen Health.

By providing this Consent, you authorise Listen Health and its partnered healthcare providers to arrange, process, review and store your laboratory tests, as well as any healthcare information you provide us.

You are not required to provide this Consent; however, without it, we are unable to deliver our services, including the facilitation of your laboratory testing, interpretation of results, or medical education.

1. Scope and Application of this Consent

This Consent applies to all testing and clinical services facilitated or provided by Listen Health Pty Ltd (“Listen Health”), including but not limited to:

  • The collection and processing of biological samples (e.g., blood, saliva, urine)
  • Laboratory testing conducted by NATA-accredited Australian pathology partners
  • Clinical oversight, interpretation, and summary of test results
  • Secure storage, transmission, and handling of health and laboratory data

This Consent also governs how we communicate your results, provide educational insights, and uphold your rights to privacy, autonomy, and informed decision-making.

2. Purpose of Testing

The services provided by Listen Health Pty Ltd (“Listen Health”), are intended to promote personal health awareness and support informed lifestyle and wellbeing choices.

The scope of Listen Health’s services is strictly limited to general wellness and educational purposes. These services are not intended to diagnose, monitor, prevent, predict, or treat any disease, disorder, or medical condition, nor do they constitute medical, therapeutic, or clinical advice.

Listen Health and its clinicians do not diagnose, treat, or manage disease, and any information or laboratory results provided through Listen Health must not be used to confirm or exclude any clinical diagnosis without consultation with an external registered healthcare provider. Users must consult a registered medical practitioner regarding any specific concerns, symptoms, or abnormal findings.

3. Clinical Oversight, Interpretation, and Reporting

All tests facilitated by Listen Health Pty Ltd (“Listen Health”) are reviewed under appropriate clinical oversight by qualified practitioners operating in accordance with relevant professional and ethical standards. All medical information and internal protocols are informed by publications in peer-reviewed, evidence-based journals as researched by the Listen Health Clinical Research team.

You will receive a digital summary of your test results, which may include educational commentary or general wellness recommendations. All information provided is for informational and educational purposes only and does not constitute medical advice. You should always consult your general practitioner or treating healthcare provider regarding any symptoms, test results, or health concerns.

In the event that any test result is deemed critical, or indicative of a potential medical emergency, Listen Health and its overseeing clinicians will take all reasonable and appropriate steps consistent with good clinical practice to ensure that:

  • The patient is notified promptly and advised to seek immediate medical attention;
  • Relevant information is communicated clearly to the patient and/or their nominated healthcare provider; and
  • Appropriate documentation and follow-up actions are undertaken in accordance with professional standards and applicable privacy and health regulations.

Listen Health, in partnership with accredited pathology providers, maintains internal governance protocols to ensure that critical or urgent results are identified, escalated, and managed in a timely and responsible manner consistent with best-practice medical oversight.

4. Limitations and Exclusions of Testing

Laboratory testing is subject to inherent limitations. Results may be influenced by factors including but not limited to fasting status, hydration, stress, or medication use.

A “normal” result does not necessarily indicate optimal health, and an “abnormal” result does not necessarily indicate disease.
Listen Health makes no representation or warranty that testing will identify, predict, or exclude any specific medical condition.

5. Rights of the Participant and Associated Obligations

You have the right to:

  • Receive clear and accurate information about the purpose, benefits, and limitations of testing
  • Decline or withdraw consent prior to the commencement of testing
  • Access your test results and request further explanation
  • Ask questions or raise concerns regarding the testing process or oversight

You are responsible for:

  • Providing complete and accurate health information, including disclosure of medications or conditions that may affect results
  • Seeking independent medical advice regarding your results or any changes to your health
Using all information provided by Listen Health within the intended scope of general health education and personal wellbeing
6. Sharing Results with Your Primary Healthcare Provider

You may choose, at your discretion, to share your results directly with your general practitioner or another qualified healthcare professional to support your ongoing care. We encourage this where appropriate, as pathology results are best considered within the broader context of your medical history and clinical care.

Listen Health does not transmit your results to third parties unless required by law or where you have explicitly authorised such disclosure in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
